Ingredients

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup hot fudge sauce
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Fudge Topping:

  • ½ cup hot fudge sauce, warmed
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, then add vanilla.
  • Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
  • Gently fold in hot fudge sauce and chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 55-60 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and drizzle with warmed hot fudge sauce, sprinkling chocolate chips and nuts as desired.
