Loaded Baked Beans are a hearty, crowd-pleasing side dish packed with savory beef, smoky beef sausage, and a rich blend of sweet and tangy seasonings. Slow-baked until hot and bubbly, they’re perfect for barbecues, potlucks, holidays, or family dinners.

Ingredients

  • Diced beef bacon
  • Ground beef
  • Beef smoked sausage, sliced
  • Sweet onion, diced
  • Green bell pepper, diced
  • Red bell pepper, diced
  • Canned baked beans
  • Dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Dark brown sugar
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Yellow mustard
  • Garlic powder
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Salt
  • Ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the diced beef bacon in a large oven-safe pot over medium-high heat until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and reserve 2 tablespoons of the rendered fat.
  3. In the same pot, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it into crumbles. Drain excess fat and set aside with the beef bacon.
  4. Add the sliced beef smoked sausage to the pot and cook until lightly browned. Remove and set aside with the other cooked meats.
  5. Return the reserved rendered fat to the pot. Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper, and cook until softened.
  6. Return the cooked beef bacon, ground beef, and smoked sausage to the pot.
  7. Stir in the baked beans, kidney beans, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  8. Heat the mixture through, then transfer the pot to the oven and bake for about 40 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
  9. Let the baked beans rest for several minutes before serving.
