Mascarpone Cream is a luxuriously smooth and versatile topping made with mascarpone cheese and heavy whipping cream. Light, rich, and ready in just 5 minutes, it’s perfect for cakes, fruit, pastries, waffles, pancakes, and more.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • 8 ounces heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon powdered (confectioners’) sugar (optional, or more to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the mascarpone cheese in a mixing bowl and beat briefly until smooth and softened.
  2. Pour in the cold heavy whipping cream.
  3. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, if using.
  4. Beat on medium speed until soft peaks form.
  5. Reduce to low speed and continue beating until the cream reaches soft but stable peaks. Do not overmix, as the mixture can separate.
  6. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to use. If chilled for a while, gently fold before serving.

Notes

  • Use cold mascarpone and heavy cream for the best texture.
  • Add lemon or orange zest for a citrus twist.
  • Substitute almond extract for vanilla for a different flavor.
  • Fold in melted and cooled white chocolate for a richer topping.
  • Sweeten with honey or maple syrup instead of powdered sugar if desired.
  • Mix in espresso powder, cocoa powder, or cinnamon for flavored variations.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Freezing is not recommended, as the texture may become grainy after thawing.
