Whether using fresh or canned peaches, this homemade cobbler is quick to make and full of flavor. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a classic Southern treat!

Ingredients

For the Peach Filling:

  • 5 cups fresh peaches (peeled and sliced) or 2 (15 oz) cans of sliced peaches (drained)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

For the Cobbler Topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Prepare the peach filling: In a large bowl, mix peaches, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Pour into the greased baking dish.
  • Make the cobbler topping: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until combined.
  • Assemble the cobbler: Pour the batter evenly over the peach mixture. Do not stir—it will bake into a delicious crust.
  • Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Enjoy!

Notes

  • If using canned peaches, drain them well to avoid excess liquid.
  • You can substitute brown sugar for granulated sugar for a deeper caramelized flavor.
  • For a crispier topping, sprinkle a little extra sugar on top before baking.
