Reindeer Chow is a festive Christmas snack mix made with crunchy Chex cereal, creamy peanut butter, melted chocolate, and powdered sugar, then tossed with colorful holiday M&M’s. This sweet, crunchy treat is perfect for holiday parties, gifting, and Christmas movie nights.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup red and green M&M’s candies

Instructions

  1. Place the Rice Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  2. Combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal. Gently stir with a spatula until the cereal is evenly coated, taking care not to crush the pieces.
  6. Transfer the chocolate-coated cereal to a large resealable plastic bag. Add the powdered sugar, seal the bag, and shake gently until all the cereal pieces are coated.
  7. Spread the coated cereal onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and allow it to cool until the chocolate has set.
  8. Transfer the cereal to a large serving bowl and gently mix in the red and green M&M’s candies.
  9. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container until ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • Use Rice Chex for a classic crunchy texture, or substitute Corn Chex if preferred.
  • For a gluten-free version, check that all ingredients, including the cereal and candies, are certified gluten-free.
  • Use creamy peanut butter for the smoothest chocolate coating.
  • Melt the chocolate mixture slowly to prevent scorching.
  • Allow the coated cereal to cool before adding the M&M’s to prevent the candy coating from melting.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
  • Package individual portions in festive treat bags or decorative jars for holiday gifts.
