Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb steak (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 4 cups cooked rice (preferably cold)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas and carrots
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside with the steak.
  • Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the skillet and sauté the diced onion and minced garlic for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Stir in the frozen peas and carrots and cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  • Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and pour the beaten eggs onto the other side. Scramble the eggs until fully cooked, then mix them with the vegetables.
  • Add the cooked rice to the skillet and stir to combine everything.
  • Pour the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil over the rice and mix well. Season with ground black pepper.
  • Add the cooked shrimp and steak back into the skillet and toss everything together until well combined and heated through.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure to use cold rice for the best texture in fried rice.
  • You can substitute the steak with chicken or other proteins if desired.
  • Adjust the soy sauce and seasoning to taste for your preferred flavor profile.
