These Spider’s Web Smoothie Bowls combine creamy frozen bananas, blueberries, blackberries, and Greek yogurt with a spooky yogurt spiderweb design. A fun, nutritious, and easy no-cook Halloween breakfast or snack that kids and adults will love.

Ingredients

  • 2 frozen ripe bananas
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup frozen blackberries
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt, for the smoothie base
  • ¼ cup milk or unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • ½ cup thick plain Greek yogurt, for the spiderweb decoration
  • 1–2 teaspoons milk, if needed for piping
  • A handful of fresh blueberries or blackberries, for decoration
  • Chia seeds or sliced fruit, for additional decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fruit: Peel and slice the bananas before freezing them for at least 2–3 hours, or use previously frozen bananas. Measure the frozen blueberries, blackberries, yogurt, and milk.
  2. Blend the smoothie base: Add the frozen bananas, blueberries, blackberries, ½ cup Greek yogurt, and ¼ cup milk to a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth, thick, and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides as necessary.
  3. Adjust the consistency: If the blender struggles, add milk one tablespoon at a time until the mixture blends smoothly. Keep the smoothie thick enough to support the spiderweb decoration. Add vanilla extract and honey or maple syrup if desired.
  4. Divide into bowls: Spoon the smoothie mixture evenly into two serving bowls. Smooth the surface of each bowl with the back of a spoon to create an even layer.
  5. Prepare the yogurt decoration: Stir the remaining ½ cup Greek yogurt until smooth. If necessary, add 1–2 teaspoons milk to make it easier to pipe while maintaining a thick consistency. Transfer the yogurt to a piping bag or small plastic food bag and snip a tiny opening in one corner.
  6. Create the spiderweb: Starting from the center of each smoothie bowl, pipe several concentric circles of yogurt, gradually increasing their size toward the edges.
  7. Draw the web pattern: Using a toothpick or wooden skewer, gently drag lines from the center outward through the yogurt circles. Repeat around each bowl to create a spiderweb pattern, wiping the toothpick between strokes for clean lines.
  8. Add the finishing touches: Decorate the edges with fresh blueberries, blackberries, chia seeds, or sliced fruit. For an extra Halloween touch, create small spiders using berries for the bodies and thin strips of fruit for the legs.
  9. Serve immediately: Enjoy the smoothie bowls while they are cold, thick, and creamy.

Notes

  • Frozen fruit: Use frozen bananas and berries for the thickest, creamiest smoothie bowl texture. If freezing fresh bananas, allow an additional 2–3 hours before preparation.
  • Consistency tip: Start with the recommended amount of milk and add more only when necessary. Too much liquid will make the spiderweb decoration difficult to maintain.
  • Chocolate variation: Add 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder to the smoothie base for a rich chocolate flavor and a darker background that contrasts beautifully with the white yogurt web.
  • Strawberry variation: Replace the blueberries and blackberries with frozen strawberries and raspberries for a bright pink smoothie bowl.
  • Tropical variation: Use frozen mango, pineapple, and banana for a tropical smoothie base. Decorate with contrasting berry puree.
  • Vegan variation: Replace Greek yogurt with thick coconut yogurt, use plant-based milk, and choose maple syrup instead of honey.
  • Protein variation: Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder or a spoonful of almond butter. Adjust the milk as needed to maintain a creamy texture.
  • Green monster variation: Blend frozen banana, mango, spinach, and avocado for a green Halloween smoothie bowl.
  • Natural sweetness: Use very ripe bananas or add a little mango to increase sweetness without adding refined sugar.
  • Extra toppings: Try granola, shredded coconut, pumpkin seeds, chopped nuts, banana slices, or chia seeds for added texture.
  • Refrigeration: Store the undecorated smoothie mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Stir before serving and add the yogurt decoration immediately before eating.
  • Freezing: Freeze the smoothie base in a freezer-safe container for up to 1 month. Allow it to soften slightly, then stir or blend until creamy before decorating.
  • Decoration storage: Store the yogurt decoration separately in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, provided it remains within its use-by date. Keep fresh fruit toppings refrigerated separately.
  • Make ahead: Prepare and freeze the smoothie base in advance, but create the spiderweb immediately before serving for the best appearance.
  • Blender alternative: A regular blender or food processor can work if the frozen fruit is cut into smaller pieces and blended in short intervals.
  • Serving tip: Serve immediately after decorating. Reheating is not recommended because these smoothie bowls are intended to be enjoyed cold.
  • Nutrition information is estimated per bowl using dairy milk, plain Greek yogurt, and a small portion of fresh berries, without optional sweeteners or additional toppings. Actual values vary depending on ingredients and brands.
