Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked.
  4. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  5. Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.
  6. Add tomato sauce and water, then stir to combine.
  7. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5–10 minutes, allowing flavors to blend and sauce to thicken.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm in tacos or desired dishes.
