This Easy Hamburger Rice Casserole is the perfect comfort food, made with seasoned ground beef, long-grain rice, and a rich blend of French onion soup and beef consommé. Baked to perfection with butter for a rich, savory flavor, this one-pan meal is a delicious and budget-friendly dinner idea!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups (370 g) long-grain white rice, uncooked
  • 2 cans (10.5 ounces each) French onion soup
  • 2 cans (10.5 ounces each) beef consommé
  • ½ cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, sliced into pats
  • Chopped chives, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink (about 8-10 minutes). Drain excess grease.
  3. Layer the Ingredients: Spread the cooked beef evenly in the baking dish. Add the uncooked rice on top.
  4. Add Liquids: Pour the French onion soup and beef consommé over the rice and beef layers. Gently stir to combine.
  5. Top with Butter: Evenly distribute the butter slices over the top of the mixture.
  6. Bake Covered: Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and bake for another 30 minutes, until the rice is fully cooked and tender.
  8. Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with chopped chives and serve warm.
